The Boys Basketball program ripped through Sectional 27 in route to their 3rd sectional title in four years, their first in 3A! The Tigers defeated Herron 117-40, setting an IHSAA record for largest margin of victory in tournament class basketball history. Leading the Tigers was Nike Sibande, who led all scorers with 24 points, Teyon Scanlan chipped in with 18 points and Derrick Briscoe added 15 points. Zac Owens contributed 14 points in the win.
In the semifinal match, #4 Crispus Attucks defeated #8 Manual in an intense, back-and-forth game that didn’t see the Tigers pull away until the last 4 minutes of the game. The Tigers defeated the Redskins 65-53. Teyon Scanlan led all scorers with 20 points. Zac Owens contributed 16 points, and Nike Sibande added 13 points in the winning effort.
The championship game featured our Tigers against Bishop Chatard. The Trojans of Bishop Chatard battled, but ended up being no match for our #FlyingTigers. Attucks cruised to a 63-45 victory, securing the sectional 27 trophy. The Tigers’ Nike Sibande led all scorers with 19 points and Jamal Harris contributed 17 points.
Regional Play kicks off this Saturday, March 11th in Greencastle’s historic McAnally Center. The Tigers will play the Northview Knights at 10am. The Tigers enter Regionals with a 21-4 record while Northview comes in at 18-8. The two schools have not played over the last 30 years.
With a victory, the Crispus Attucks Tigers would play the winner of Tri-West (22-3) vs. Danville (19-8) at 8pm in Greencastle.
The school is encouraging all of our Tiger Supporters to wear as much green as possible on Saturday. #Greenout
